Kenya’s curfew extended for 60-days

On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced an additional extension of Kenya’s 10pm to 4am curfew for an additional 60-days.

In a televised address that took place in Nairobi, Kenyatta stated that there would be a continuation of current COVID-19 restrictions including “night curfews, a ban on public gatherings, and limited attendance to houses of worship, will boost efforts to contain the pandemic” according to Xinhua.

The President also said that the 13 counties in Western Kenya indicated as new hotspots for COVID-19 will maintain a 7pm to 4am curfew until July 31st.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Kenya hit 183,603 on Tuesday after 719 people tested positive to the virus from a sample size of 7,608.

As of Tuesday, total recoveries from the virus stood at 125,388 while administered vaccines in the country were at 1,334,749.
